Overview:

This position is responsible for the oversight of laboratory management including equipment, facilities and all day to day operations. Coordination within lab disciplines and other departments to achieve results of highest ethical standards required. Must consistently manage multiple efforts while collaborating with revolving stakeholders.  Knowledge of implementation of and ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory standards is a must.  Opportunity to immediately impact and foster growth of both laboratory and companywide operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Laboratory and facility management, including procurement, permits/licenses, sample/compound management, shipping/receiving
  • EHS program coordination, including trainings, documentation, inspections, and issue reconciliation
  • Oversight of facility operations, including general laboratory, chemistry, and vivarium
  • Facility and equipment maintenance tracking and issue resolution
  • Coordination among laboratory functions, including chemistry, vivarium, imaging, and histology
  • Assist with the design and lead execution of laboratory modifications and expansion
  • Assist laboratory with study scheduling and logistics

Qualifications and Skills:                           

  • Bachelor’s degree in scientific discipline with 5 or more years of relevant experience in a facility or laboratory operations role
  • Understanding of laboratory and general office facilities, lab equipment and safety systems and procedures, shipping and receiving practices (including DOT and other regulations)
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical and biotechnology research, including pharmacology, chemistry, and imaging
  • Ability to multitask and work to deadlines in an environment of change
  • Ability to lead and mentor direct reports
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to balance attention to detail while working to deadlines           
  • Ability to learn quickly on the job through mentoring and action
  • Self-motivated and resourceful
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to be calm and collected in a dynamic environment, and at times with demanding situations
  • Ability to independently manage workflow to see projects through from start to completion
  • Comfort with various computer operating systems and laboratory operational platforms
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Some weekend work required
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
